According to the complaint, Donut Lab has allegedly exaggerated the energy density and longevity performance of its batteries while misrepresenting its production capacity. The complainant, who previously served as Chief Commercial Officer at Nordic Nano—a manufacturing partner in which Donut Lab has invested—contends that the company's January announcement about technology ready for mass production was premature and misleading.
Internal communications between Donut Lab and its partners CT-Coating and Nordic Nano reportedly reveal significant discrepancies. Documents indicate that CT-Coating's first-generation battery model—the very cell Donut Lab has been showcasing publicly and submitted to Finland's VTT national laboratory for testing—had already been abandoned by its developer. Meanwhile, CT-Coating had shifted focus to a successor model still in preliminary development stages, contradicting Donut Lab's mass-production timeline claims.
Donut Lab CEO Marko Lehtimäki stated he was unaware of the complaint, while Nordic Nano's leadership denied the allegations, characterizing the complainant's concerns as unrepresentative of company views and asserting the individual lacked involvement in battery development work.
