Dyson has entered the portable cooling market with the introduction of the HushJet Mini Cool, marking the company's first foray into handheld fan technology. The device combines the brand's signature engineering with compact, travel-friendly design, delivering impressive airflow performance in a lightweight package.
Dyson enters portable cooling market
The HushJet Mini Cool features a brushless motor capable of spinning at speeds up to 65,000 RPM, generating focused airflow of 25 meters per second—equivalent to 55 miles per hour. Despite these specifications, the entire unit weighs just 7.5 ounces, making it exceptionally portable. The device incorporates Dyson's proprietary HushJet air projection system, technology previously employed in the company's air purification line to minimize operational noise.
High-speed motor delivers powerful airflow
Users get five speed settings plus a dedicated boost mode, providing flexibility for various cooling needs and seasonal temperature spikes. The fan operates on a rechargeable battery delivering up to six hours of runtime per charge. Charging occurs via USB-C through an included charging stand, and the device's design allows it to function as a standalone unit suitable for desk placement.
Six-hour battery and multiple speed settings
Priced at $100, the HushJet Mini Cool positions itself at the premium end of the handheld fan market while remaining notably affordable compared to most Dyson products. The company is rolling out the device across three color options with a staggered release schedule. The gray variant launches tomorrow, followed by a red model in May and a blue version in June.
Premium pricing targets growing cooling demand
The launch represents Dyson's expansion beyond its core competencies in vacuum technology and air quality management, tapping into the growing demand for portable personal cooling solutions amid rising global temperatures and workplace flexibility trends.
